If you thought iPhone was unable to render nice 3D OpenGL games, here's Raging Thunder from Polarbit proving it can.
It wasn't that long ago that we were running worse looking 3D games in our PCs.
They just need to tweak the control method (using iPhone's accelerometers) a bit more.
