Apple launches iPhone 5 Sleep/Wake Button Replacement Program
If you have a iPhone 5 from the first batches, chances are you already face some power button issues, causing increasing difficulty in powering up/shutting down the phone, as well as the daily dose of sleep/wake button presses. Now, Apple acknowledges this is actually a manufacturing defect and has launched a iPhone 5 Sleep/Wake Button Replacement Program.
I've had this issue with my iPhone 5, just a few weeks after a friend of mine had his replaced. Thankfully, we have 2 years warranty in here, and now Apple is extending this to countries were users had only 1y warranty - for this problem alone.
If you have an iPhone 5 I urge to go and check if you have one of the problematic models and replace it as quickly as possible. Don't wait for it to happen, as you only get a maximum of two years after the first sale date to get it replaced. Frequent users will have noticed it by now, but less intensive user might go by without noticing it and it would be a shame for the button to fail just a few weeks after the 2 year period, wouldn't it?
