Google removes Threes from Google Play for mentioning 2048

Google is trying to crack down on the "spam apps" on Google Play, that try to trick users into thinking they're more popular apps, and this resulted in taking down the popular game Threes for mentioning the game 2048... and failing to notice the dozens of actual fake 2048 apps still on the store.

Taking Threes out of Google Play is kind of funny because Threes was actually on Google Play before 2048 was even created - though the fact that Threes is a paid app and 2048 is free quickly made 2048 far more popular. In any case, Google took down the app without even talking to the developer (a simple "please update your app description" would be nice) and seems to have failed to notice there are still dozens of misleading "2048" apps on Google Play trying to trick users.

Thankfully, it didn't take long for Google to notice it messed up, and Threes is already back on Google Play.

In any case, it would be better for Google to revise their takedown procedure, in order to prevent legitimate apps from being removed from Google Play without any advance notice, due to some minor issues that could be easily fixed... while failing to completely ignore the apps that should actually be removed. This doesn't seem the best way to attract developers to Google's platform...
