Just the other day we talked about a crowdfunding project that is basically reselling an existing product, today... we have three more, all stating to have created the first reversible micro-USB cable... which is already commercially available.
Most people will be well familiarized with the microUSB plug dance: you try to put it one way, you then try it the other way, only to realize you had it right the first time. It's easy to understand just how much we'd all prefer to have a cable we can plug in either way, like the new USB Type-C or Apple's Lightning plug. Only... that won't help any of the gadgets we already have using micro-USB ports. Hence... the reversible micro-USB cable!
This cable would be a amazing, right? But... wouldn't you find it a bit suspicious when you notice that instead of a single project, you happen to have (at least) three, in the same time frame? There's the Micro-Flip and Lightors Cable on Kickstarter; and MicFlip on Indiegogo.
Maybe there's even more if you look around; but if you look around closely, you'll also find that these reversible micro-USB cables are already being sold by Chinese manufacturers. All you have to do is to order a large enough quantity and ask for some custom branded plugs and boxes.
... One more example that will contribute to the suspicion of any and all crowdfunding project that shows up from now on.
