The much awaited Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is finally available and it starts at $586 for the base (but already well equipped) version
O Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 comes with 5.99" screen (18:9 - 2160x1080 pixels) which, together with its bezel-less full-screen design (having just an even smaller "chin" than the original Mi Mix), makes it a lot more manageable than the original with its 6.4" screen. It has a Snapdragon 835 and several versions in tow: 6GB+64GB, 6GB+128GB, 6GB+256GB, and a special ceramic version with 8GB+128GB. Sadly, no dual camera on the back nor on-screen fingerprint sensor, you get a single 12MP (OIS) camera and fingerprint sensor on the back, as well as a barely noticeable 5MP camera on the front. The smaller size also takes a toll on the battery, it drops from last year's 4400mAh to 3400mAh.
Prices: 6GB+64GB costs $586; 6GB+128GB goes for $629; and the 6GB+256GB can be bought for $689. For once, you can get the extra space at quite an affordable cost (unlike most other brands do with their smartphones).
The thing is, at least here in Portugal, you can already found a Galaxy S8 at almost the same price, and it has a better screen, camera (not to mention 2 years warranty). Even so, the Mi Mix 2 looks and specs will surely attract lots of people looking for a awesome looking full screen phone.
For me all that is missing is for Xiaomi to launch a version with Android One (like the Mi A1) and it would be just perfect. :)
